Led Zeppelin - II - Super Deluxe Box Set

I bought the second box set a few days ago. It's more or less the same concept as the first one that I wrote about the other day. I'll just explain and show you with a few pictures:

 

The sealed box set.

The cover of the hard cover book.

Lots of pictures, stories, newspaper features etc. in the book.

Two CDs. One is the remastered version of the original album, the other one is a collection of studio outtakes.

The vinyls. They include the same music as the CDs.

Also this album featured a numbered print of the artwork. Limited to 30 000.

The album on the record player. Sounds great of course!!

One and Two on the shelf together with Donald Duck. I'll probably have to move Donald once I get Three, which I'll hopefully get this weekend!

Led Zeppelin - I - Super deluxe box set.

Led Zeppelin are finally re-issueing their old classics on vinyl! The first batch of releases includes their first three albums. They all get the same treatment. They are released as a single vinyl (with the original album remastered), a double vinyl (with some studio out takes never heard before) and as a super deluxe box set. I'm looking to get the box set of all of them!

I will by them in chronological order, they are a little pricey (understandably) so I can't afford to buy them all at once.

So I got number one a couple of weeks ago and the box set includes so much cool stuff that I'll just show you pictures of it:

A replica of the original press kit from Atlantic Records.

A numbered art print of the cover (there is a total of 30 000 copies) 

The two records. The original album remastered on 180g by Jimmy Page. The second vinyl is filled with studio out takes previously unreleased.

Rival Sons - Great Western Valkyrie LP

I wonder if the release of this album was planned to coincide with the re-issues of Led Zeppelin's first three albums? And if it was, is it a sign of brilliance or a sign of economic suicide?

It's almost impossible to write about Rival Sons without mentioning LZ. RS play an updated version of LZ's rock 'n' roll. I even started to listen to this new album with the intention of writing a post like "why buy/listen to this record when you have Zeppelin's first three albums available?". However, this is an impressive record and for me their best yet!

In a world where The Hellacopters doesn't excist anymore we need a straight up rock 'n' roll band that brings something else to the table than just being good, or to use the Swedish Word "lagom". With "Great Western Valkyrie" Rival Sons might be able to fill this spot.

Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day.

This is the documentation of probably the biggest one-off concert in the history of music, the re-union gig of Led Zeppelin.

You probably all know the story. To get hold of one of the 18 000 tickets to this concert you had to enter a "lottery" to be able to win the opportunity to buy tickets to this concert. Rumour has it that there were two million participants...

I was living and studying in High Wycombe, England, at the time and one night I almost fell of my chair opening my e-mail inbox seeing as I've got the e-mail I never thought I would get, congratulating me on winning the opportunity two buy two tickets. I had to read the e-mail through several times before I could actually believe.

Said and done, tickets bought and on the 10th of December 2007 me and my friend Daniel was witness to my, without a doubt, biggest musical experience of my life (I have a hard time anything will ever come close). The guys really delivered the goods.

Five years later the concert has been released on various formats. I've gotten the Blu-ray version, with a bonus DVD and the concert on a double CD. The vinyl will be released in January apparently. Hopefully it will get the same nice treatment as "Mothership" and the re-release of "The Songs Remains The Same" has gotten.

Stupid ebay seller!!!

I am really irritated right now! I just won three auctions on ebay.

I bought early editions of these three vinyls:
Led Zeppelin - I
Led Zeppelin - IV
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats

The total amount I won them for was only £17 so I was really happy. And I just received this e-mail:
Dear cirkusnisse,

Hi,

I am very sorry for the inconvenience after you following the auction for the Frank Zappa vinyl record but the items are going to be withdrawn from sale.

I have spoke to Rob Bellars who's collection these belong to and the feedback I got was that not nearly enough interest was shown, and he is not willing to sell at such low prices.

I understand that these items were listed at a low amount, the reason being to attract a greater field of bidders, a strategy which eBay itself recommends.

Again I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for the interest shown.

Thank you for your e-mail. However I do not agree with your notes.


When you list an item on ebay you accept the risk that your item might not get the attention an item like this might deserve. Like you say, a low starting price normally attracts more buyers but you also have to take into account that they actually might not get the attraction. In this case it's probably due to bad auctioning on your part with no picture and little information. But when you do list an item you commit to a possible sell if the auction gets a bid which all three items I bought got.


You can't just "try it out" and "see if it works".


A not completed auction from your part will result in negative feedback from me and an e-mail to ebay.
